Job Summary:

This is a “hands on” position which includes selling, ordering, and the maintenance of inventory, record keeping and management of the university retail sales operations. The Fan Store Manager will coordinate the preparation of store financial reports with the comptroller; as well as, controlling the university retail operating budget. The Fan Store Manager will need to perform functions related to cashiering such as: operating cash register and credit card machine; assist customers; answer telephones and customer service questions; and handle returns and complaints.

 

 

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of product selection, inventory control, and purchasing practices.
• Knowledge of merchandise techniques.
• Demonstrated willingness and ability to act ethically and in a socially responsible manner.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
• Associates’ degree or 2 year marketing experience.
• Four years progressively responsible retail sales experience preferred.
• Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities:

• Identifies criteria and selects vendor to procure specific merchandise meeting identified criteria, such as price, quantity, quality and delivery date.
• Identifies need for materials and merchandise; identifies criteria and selects vendor to procure specific merchandise meeting identified criteria, such as price, quantity, quality and delivery date.
• Orders stock through sales representatives, purchase orders, and phone contact with vendors.
• Checks inventory of shipments that arrive; prices and stocks the new merchandise.
• Completes and prices the annual inventory and other inventories as required.
• Reviews inventory level to liquidate obsolete merchandise.
• Checks new stock prices with existing stock prices and makes appropriate markups/markdowns.
• Supervises, trains, and assists student workers in their duties.
• Plans special promotion and sales.
• Compiles and tracks sales data; evaluates data for future stocking and promotional events.
• Maintains accountability of funds received.
• Works with faculty in determining the textbook and learning material requirements for the book rental operation and retail operation.
• Supervises, trains, and assists the Fan Store clerks in their duties.
• Helps develop and monitor the Fan Store operating budget.
• Develops and manages on-line presence of Fan Store.
• Must have a strong work ethic and lead by example.
• Must be a professional, credible and respected representative of the institution internally and in the community.
• Demonstrated willingness and ability to act ethically and socially responsible.
• Must be able to lift more than 50-lb. objects; frequent bending, stooping, and walking.
• Willing to work on occasional weekends.
• Ability to communicate in a courteous manner.
• Other duties as assigned by Associate Vice President of Fiscal Affairs or designee.
