Job Summary:

The Hispanic Student Center LabTechnician will report directly to the Director of the Hispanic Student Center to ensure that the computer lab devices, network, and workstations are properly functioning at all times. The technician will manage devices for student check out and ensure that students are properly trained in utilizing those devices. The Lab Technician will also manage and operate the laptop repair service desk, train student interns, and provide progress reports to the CIS Department Chair upon request. The Lab Technician will work with Hispanic Student Center Staff to ensure that students have the training, tools, and resources necessary to achieve academic success.

Responsibilities:

• Will be assigned to the Center lab.
• Ensure that all students working in the Center lab have access to the computers and online services.
• Ensure the overall cleanliness and organization of the Center lab.
• Ensure all lab equipment is maintained and is always in working order.
• Partner with University IT staff to ensure appropriate security, continuity, hardware, and software needs are met.
• Continuous assessment of current technology resources being provided.
• Provide continuous assessment of current technology resources.
• Maintain resource inventory records, secure technology resources, ensure students are made aware of available technology resources.
• Provide periodical updates to Center Director regarding identified technological needs of our Hispanic students.
• Must have a strong work ethic and lead by example.
• Must be a professional, credible and respected representative of the institution internally and in the community
• Demonstrated willingness and ability to act ethically and socially responsible
• Must be able to lift more than 20-lb. objects; frequent bending, stooping, and walking.
• Can be exposed to a variety of weather conditions for periods of time.
• Ability to communicate in a courteous manner
• Other duties as assigned by Director of Hispanic Student Center or designee.

Qualifications:

• Advanced knowledge of hardware, software, networking concepts required
• Familiarity with all University utilized learning management platforms
• Advanced knowledge and experience with Windows and Mac OS computer systems
• Advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office 365 software, word processing, database, and presentation software
• Strong interpersonal and soft skills
• Availability requirements are condition of employment
• Core A+ certification preferred
• Network+ certification preferred
• Ability to speak/read Spanish required

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
• Associate’s Degree in Information Technology or related field
• OR 3-4 years of relevant experience
