Job Summary:

Sports Information at OPSU is a multi-dimensional function that includes the maintaining of sound relationships with the media, the OPSU athletic staff, the OPSU administration, fellow student workers, the Sooner Conference, and the NAIA. The Sports Information Director is responsible for keeping updated stats for various sports programs and design and layout of the media guides throughout the year.



  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.


  • Punctuality and Dependability is a MUST. The SID must be at all home games no later than one hour prior to the start of that game and will assist if there are any issues. If all of the equipment (including scoreboards, sound systems, internet connections, and computers systems) are not operational at the time that the SID arrives, it is their responsibility to get them checked out and running.
  • It is the required responsibility of the SID to e-mail rosters (both in Word and StatCrew or DakStats format) to opposing schools no less than four (4) days prior to a road game and copies of ALL Correspondence must be sent to the Director of Sports Information.
  • For home games, it is the responsibility of opposing schools to send us the roster information (in both formats), and if that information has not been received within four (4) days of the game then it is the responsibility of the SID to assist the OPSU SID in acquiring all information.
  • The SID will have the responsibility for preparing the Word rosters of both the home and visiting teams for all games for purposes of program inserts, and making sure they are delivered to the correct place at least one day prior to the home game.
  • The SID will be responsible for the supervisory responsibility of the caller(s) and data entry Sports Information personnel at all home games and is responsible (prior to the game) for obtaining the starting lineups for both teams as well as getting the names of the officials working the game. The SID will stay in the area during breaks from the games.
  • Create home game protocol
  • Post-game, the SID send the game files to the opposing school, the Sooner Conference, and the NAIA (and logging in game scores to various websites). Unless there is an issue, these things must be done at the table immediately after the game and any deviation from this procedure must be approved by the OPSU Sports Information Director.
  • The SID make sure data entry (to varied websites) concerning rosters and schedules are accurate.
  • The SID will monitor the Sooner Conference website to make sure the correct data has been properly logged in. During the football season, the SID must do the same with the NAIA site for the football statistics.
  • At all times (during games or in other situations representing the Sports Information Department) the SID will conduct himself/herself in a professional manner.
  • Must have a strong work ethic and lead by example.
  • Must be a professional, credible and respected representative of the institution internally and in the community
  • Managing student workers
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to act ethically and socially responsible manner.
  • Must be able to lift more than 50-lb. objects; frequent bending, stooping, and walking.
  • Ability to work various hours, including nights and weekends throughout the year for practice, games and recruiting.
  • Ability to communicate in a courteous manner
  • Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or designee.

The omission of specific statement of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.
