Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Yes, all students who are incoming Freshman are REQUIRED to attend New Student Orientation.
Yes, you can register for Fall 2021 classes prior to New Student Orientation beginning March 22nd, 2021. However, New Student Orientation is REQUIRED for all incoming Freshman and there will be Academic Advisers from each area present to help with each individual student’s class registration.
You will need to bring all Admissions paperwork that you have not yet submitted, such as; Official High School & College Transcripts, ACT/SAT Scores, Immunization form and Records. There will be a good amount of walking around campus, so please wear weather appropriate clothing and shoes.
During your session, you will be provided valuable information about OPSU and preparing you to start your Freshman year off right. You will be introduced to on campus departments and resources, meet one-on-one with an academic advisor, register for classes, and meet other incoming Freshman.
Yes! We welcome guests at New Student Orientation and even have a special Family Orientation session for them to attend. We just ask that you account for them when you fill out your New Student Orientation Registration form. If you need to add or change information regarding your guests, please email Hannah Hammack or Sarah Wood at hannah.hammack@opsu.edu and sarah.wood10@opsu.edu respectively.
Yes, you will be able to register for Fall 2021 classes if you have submitted all of your Official Transcripts and required documents to the Academic Records Office. You will meet with an academic advisor, review your intended major and your degree plan so you will know what classes to choose, then you will enroll in your classes for the Fall 2021 semester.
Depending on the session you register for and the amount of students in each academic area of interest sessions will last between 5-6 hours.
No. If you happen to arrive late or leave before the completion of your orientation session, the holds on your account will remain, and it will be necessary to register for another session. It is important to arrive on time for check in and stay in attendance for the entire session.
Yes. However, 24-48 hours is preferred so we have an accurate count of registered student. To change sessions, email Hannah Hammack or Sarah Wood at hannah.hammack@opsu.edu and sarah.wood10@opsu.edu respectively and include the session you are unable to attend. Then you can return to the NSO page to register for a new session.
We encourage you to have your ACT/SAT scores already submitted or brought with you when attending New Student Orientation. You can register for classes if you have not taken the ACT or SAT however you will be placed in plus classes.
Yes! Your student ID, also called your Banner ID, is the best way for our offices to view your records when you need assistance. Memorize this number as you will need it throughout your entire time as a student at OPSU.
