External Scholarships

Quicken Loans is offering a scholarship essay contest to all college, university and vocational school students. This scholarship is merit based, requires an essay submission, and the winning applicant will receive $2,500 dollars to put toward tuition costs.

Award Information

The best submission will be awarded $2,000 while the two runners-up will receive $500 each.


  • Write an essay on “Our life on a spaceship: the future of mankind”
  • Essay length is 500-1000 words
  • Submit your essay via online form
  • Submission deadline - December 14, 2018
  • The winners will be announced January 4, 2019, on the CGTrader blog and notified directly via email provided upon the registration


  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • High school senior, undergraduate or graduate student
  • Enrolled full-time in an academic institution Jan 1, 2018 – August 31, 2018

NOTE: To apply for this scholarship, please complete all of the components of the (1) General Application and then (2) the College Student Application. Meeting the eligibility criteria and submitting all required components/fields on the Senior High School Student Application will automatically move an applicant into the Lonnie & Nancy Childress Scholarship at Oklahoma Panhandle State University applicant pool.


  • GPA must greater than or equal to 2.5.
  • Eligible applicants must seniors, rising into their fifth year.
  • Applicants must have completed their athletic eligibility.
  • Must be on track to graduate at the end of their 5th year (36 credit hours or less remain to obtain a degree).
  • Must be pursuing a degree at Oklahoma Panhandle State University, Goodwell, OK.
  • Preference will be given to male (1) basketball players, (2) baseball players and (3) football players, in that order.

The Lonnie & Nancy Childress Scholarship at Oklahoma Panhandle State University Scholarship is a one-time award. Funds must be used at Oklahoma Panhandle State University for the cost of tuition, fees, required books and supplies. Payments are made directly to the school. Payments are issued in the following academic year.

The Lonnie & Nancy Childress Scholarship at Oklahoma Panhandle State University Scholarship fund is established to encourage and support fifth year, eligible athletes, who are on track to graduate.
