Oklahoma City, Okla. – A total of five Oklahoma Panhandle State University baseball players have been honored on the 2019 Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) Academic All-Conference Team, it was announced by the league office. To earn the SAC Academic All-Conference designation, student-athletes must be a sophomore, junior or senior in a SAC-sponsored sport, while posting a grade point average of 3.25 or better in 2018-19.

Recognized from Aggie Baseball were redshirt sophomore Parker Boles (Amarillo, Texas), senior Jacob Dean (Moore, Okla.), senior Corey Ley (San Antonio, Texas), senior Payton Rhodes (Granbury, Texas) and junior Bradley Ruiz (Keller, Texas).

Ley (RHP/Computer Information Systems major) earned the third academic all-conference recognition of his OPSU career. He was also recognized last season by the SAC and in 2017 by the Heartland Conference (while the Aggies’ program was an NCAA II member).

For Boles (1B/Criminal Justice major), Dean (OF/Biological Science major), Rhodes (OF/Health & Physical Education major) and Ruiz (OF/Health & Physical Education major), it is their first academic all-conference award as an Aggie.

“These young men did a fantastic job of handling the rigors of a full academic load and time commitments of a sport,” OPSU Director of Athletics Meghan Mulcahy said. “All of ‘Aggie Nation’ should be especially proud of these five for representing Panhandle State Baseball with this academic all-conference recognition.”
